Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, who sees it, and how to get it changed or deleted.
Last updated: 8 October 2026
The short version
- We don't sell your data, show ads or use tracking cookies.
- Our site statistics are anonymous: no IP addresses, no user IDs, no cookies.
- Your account holds your email, username and anything you choose to add. You can delete it yourself in Account Settings.
- We publish competitive information about pro players from public sources. Any player can ask us to correct or remove their personal details.
1. Who we are
PaceFC (pacefc.gg) is an independent fan site about the EA SPORTS FC esports scene, run from the United Kingdom. We are the "controller" of the personal data described here. This means we decide how it is used and we are responsible for it under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Contact us about anything in this policy at contact@pacefc.gg or through our contact form.
2. What we collect
If you create an account
- Email address, username and password. Your password is stored hashed (scrambled) by our database provider, and we can never see it.
- Account details: when you joined, your account type (fan, pro, coach, creator, admin) and when you last changed your username.
- Things you choose to add: social media links, Pick'em predictions, the Pick'em badges you earn and the emblem you show, and requests you send us (for example a username change).
If you are a verified pro, coach or content creator
- Your request to link your account to a profile, plus anything you send to support it.
- What you publish on your profile: display name, real name, gamertag/PSN, nationality, date of birth, team or organisation, photo, social links, tactics, in-game settings and gear. You decide what to fill in, and these details are public.
If you claim a team or organisation page
- The claim request and the details you publish on the team page (description, roster, former players, links).
If you contact us
- Your name, email address, message and any attachment. The contact form sends these to our inbox by email. They are not stored in our database.
When you browse the site
- Anonymous statistics: which pages and items (tournaments, matches, players, articles) are viewed, and which players are compared. To count visits separately from page views we use a random ID that is kept in your browser tab only for that session. We do not record IP addresses, user IDs or cookies, and visits by our admins are not counted.
- Server logs: our web host may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for a short time, for security and to keep the site running.
3. Pro players and public esports information
PaceFC reports on competitive EA SPORTS FC. We publish information about players, coaches, teams and tournaments taken from public sources: official results and rankings, tournament broadcasts, team announcements and the players' own public social media. This can include gamertag, team, nationality, results, statistics, the squads, tactics and settings used in public matches, photos and links to public profiles.
We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest (and the public's) in following and reporting on a public competitive scene. We only publish information related to a person's competitive career.
- To keep results attached to the right person, admins keep a private note of a player's previous gamertags or EA IDs. This is never shown on the site.
- A "banned" notice is only shown where we are aware of an official decision by the competition organiser.
- For players under 18, we only show a real name, photo or date of birth if the player (or a parent or guardian) gave it to us, or if the player or their team has made it public themselves.
- You can object. If you are on PaceFC and want something corrected or removed, email contact@pacefc.gg. We will remove personal details such as your real name, date of birth or photo on request. Results from public tournaments are part of the public record of those events, so they usually stay, but we will consider every request.
- You can also claim your profile to manage your own details. See the "Verify" option in Account Settings.
4. How we use it, and our legal basis
- Running your account and the features you use (log in, Pick'ems, profiles, settings). Basis: providing the service you signed up for (contract).
- Showing what you publish on your profile or team page. Basis: contract and your choice to publish. You can change or remove it at any time.
- Checking pro, coach, creator and team claims so that nobody can pretend to be someone else. Basis: legitimate interests.
- Covering the esports scene (section 3). Basis: legitimate interests.
- Replying to messages you send us. Basis: legitimate interests.
- Anonymous statistics to see which parts of the site are used. Basis: legitimate interests.
- Security and preventing abuse (spam, fake accounts, breaking our Terms). Basis: legitimate interests.
- Meeting legal obligations where the law requires it.
We do not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
5. Cookies and browser storage
PaceFC does not set advertising or tracking cookies. To work, the site saves a few things in your browser's local storage:
- your login session, so you stay signed in;
- your preferences: language, light or dark mode, spoiler protection, your spoiler time window and your news language;
- Pick'em picks you make before logging in;
- a random visit ID for the anonymous statistics, plus small navigation helpers (for example where the "Back" link goes). These are deleted when you close the tab.
These are either strictly necessary or remember choices you made, so the law doesn't require a consent banner for them. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings. If we ever add analytics or advertising cookies, we will ask for your consent first.
6. Who we share it with
Anything you publish on your profile or a team page is public. Apart from that, personal data is only handled by the services that run the site for us, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Supabase: our database, accounts and file storage (for example profile photos).
- Hostinger: web hosting, and the email account behind contact@pacefc.gg.
- jsDelivr: delivers a code library the site uses, and flagcdn.com: serves the country flag images. Your browser connects to these directly, so they can see your IP address, as with any website.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our users or the site from fraud or abuse. Links to YouTube, Twitch, X, Instagram, TikTok and other sites take you to those services, and their own privacy policies apply there.
7. International transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside the UK, for example in the European Union or the United States. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the safeguards the UK GDPR requires, such as the ICO's International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. How long we keep it
- Accounts: until you delete your account. Deleting it removes your profile, picks, badges and requests straight away. Copies in our providers' backups are overwritten within about 30 days.
- Details you published as a verified pro: until you remove them or ask us to. Deleting your account unlinks it from your player profile. Ask us if you also want your details removed from the player profile.
- Contact messages: up to 12 months after the conversation ends, unless we need them longer to deal with a dispute.
- Anonymous statistics: these contain no personal data and may be kept for as long as they are useful.
- Public esports information: as long as PaceFC covers the scene, unless you successfully object (section 3).
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy;
- have it corrected if it is wrong;
- have it deleted. You can delete your account yourself in Account Settings;
- restrict or object to how we use it, including the public esports information in section 3;
- receive data you gave us in a portable format (data portability);
- withdraw consent where we rely on it, at any time.
Email contact@pacefc.gg to use any of these rights. It's free, and we will reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, for example by emailing from your account's address.
10. Children
You must be at least 13 to create a PaceFC account. If you're under 18, please check with a parent or guardian first. If we learn that someone under 13 has created an account, we will delete it.
11. Keeping it safe
The site is served over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed. Database access rules make sure accounts can only read and change what they're allowed to, and only a small number of admins can see private information such as claim requests. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach puts your data at risk, we will tell you and the ICO where the law requires it.
12. Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please contact us first and we'll try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, helpline 0303 123 1113. If you live in the EU, you can also contact the data protection authority in your country.
13. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when what we do changes and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also put a notice on the site or email account holders.
